Stop trying. Start doing!
Dear all,
Thank you very much for your thought-provoking feedback on my blogs and academic programs. I am pondering over three significant responses I have received.
One, “we do pre-surgical planning. Isn’t it equal to storyboarding?” Yes, it is if you are an experienced and accomplished surgeon. Nevertheless, storyboards help junior colleagues who are learning afresh and seniors who wish to perform a new surgery.
Second, “I want to learn seriously. But, I am not getting any chances. My boss is prejudiced against me. My colleagues do not support me. I am not getting any opportunities to learn at all. I am always left out!” Oops! All of us get this feeling sometimes or other. I strongly believe in what a famous comedian and actor Milton Berle said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” A well-known American journalist Sam Levenson once said, “Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.” I will write more about building doors of opportunities in a future blog!
Third, “I am deeply motivated by your messages. So I will try to work on goals and objectives.” My gosh! Please stop trying. Please start doing it! Mere trying is an easy surrender to failure. Or, it is like saying, “If I fail, please don’t blame me. I tried after all.” But, conversely, if we don’t achieve something we worked for, we can do a course correction and move to the next step in our evolution. We must remember who we are and how we got this far and strategize for a different outcome.
Dears, I eagerly look forward to receiving more such feedback, which provides an enriching experience for me and others. With this, I invite you for the 5th Episode of “Weekend with a Maestro!” held on 30 January 2022, Sunday at 06.00 – 08.00 pm. This week we have a senior and experienced faculty as a Maestro, and the topic is “Lateral Skull Base surgery for Glomus tumour or Skull Base Paraganglioma.” Lateral Skull Base surgery is the next step for all Otologists and must be a definite goal post.
To honour the request of many participants, we are providing a digital certificate of attendance to all participants. A sample certificate is enclosed here. Have a great weekend.
With best regards,
